Most TT's are supplied with a Group 24, Wet cell, 12V, RV/Marine battery (not a true deep cycle battery). If the plastic battery box is missing, you can get one at Wallmart, Auto Parts stores, etc., for around $15.

Group 27 is what is recommended with mine according to the owners's manual, just found out recently that the dealer installed a group 24 when I took delivery over 2 yrs ago....I am taking it back to them to either get a correct battery, hopefully they will honour their mistake.

Traveling and camping is going to open up a whole new world for you.

I would like to suggest that you take a hard look at your tires. Check the DOT date. Depending on age they may need to be replaced.

So true. But that is the way they all are anymore, have you bought a car or truck, lately?

Yes, I have seen the "Group 27 Deep Cycle" battery referenced in recent years, but in most cases to get a "true" Deep Cycle battery (any Group size) it's a cost upgrade from the standard Group 24 "Marine/RV Deep Cycle" battery that many RV dealers provide, commonly referred to as a "combination battery" (also rated for starting).

I would be interested in hearing how your dealer interprets the "Group 27 Deep Cycle" reference in the owners manual.

The most important tip for a beginner is to check the clamps on the drain hose every time before draining the blackwater tank. You do not want the hose slipping off as the weight of the waste hits the hose. Believe me I made that mistake once after a week long boondocking trip. You do not want that to happen.

Be sure to let us know how that goes.

If I recall the same reference you found mentioning a group 27 is also very clear to point out "Customer Supplied" not factory supplied of dealer supplied.

I would not get my hopes up that the dealer will do anything for you 2 years later. Nor would I suggest you make a big deal of it, just remember for next time. a single Group 24 RV/Marine battery seems to be the standard. Its what my first RV came with, and it worked great for nearly 2 years.

Just learning curve stuff for someone who just bought his first modern trailer. For example...

Why doesn't the water tank fill when I connect the city water hose? Forum 1, manual 0

How do you get antifreeze into the water system when the manuals instruction of putting your outside hose in a jug of antifreeze and turning on the water pump doesn't work? Forum 2, manual 0

Why do I have no power in the trailer when the battery is fully charged? Forum 3, manual 0.

Stuff like that.
