Hi,
My name's Steve. I'm new to the world of RV'ing, although not exactly new to camping. Well, "new" might not be 100% accurate, my Dad bought a new VW camper bus in 1965 when we moved to Alaska from Brooklyn New York. I was 9, had lived in big cities all my life, and fell in love with all things outdoors on that 2 month trip up the Alcan.
Since then I've done more than a bit of hiking and camping, as well as motorcycle camping, some solo, some with friends, and some with my late wife. A few years on M-60 and M-1 tanks in the Army, but that's not exactly just "camping", is it?
I'm retired now, my wife and I had been looking at the Melbourne Class C and setting aside money for it for some time prior to retirement. The idea was to start trailering the bike, and spending a few weeks here and there in the RV while exploring different regions of the country. Sadly, she died suddenly about a year ago. Her last meal was a Romaine lettuce salad, sick for 4 days, and then when she started to get better said "Boy my heart is pounding". Sorry, I know, too much information.
At any rate, after a few months I decided to return to the plan and bought a new Melbourne last October. There's been some problems, battery drain, DEF sensor, but then what man-made product doesn't have problems?
I'm now in a new relationship with a woman I used to work with. Her husband died a couple years back, so we understand each other quite well. Thanks largely to some information I found here on this forum, I think I will be able to deal with the battery drain issues. I'm in the process of purchasing a trailer, awaiting delivery from Iron Horse Trailers. I hope it works as good as it looks.
We plan to be out and about this summer, RVing, riding, living life and taking pictures! Hope to see some of you on the road. We have a couple friends with 5th Wheel set-ups, so we've got a little guidance and possibly some travelling companions.
Thanks,
Steve.
