New to Jayco, finally saying hello on the forum.
Hello my name is Jon, we are a family of 4 in Kingsburg Ca. We bought a 2016 eagle Ht 29.5 BHDS, back in October 17. This is our 2nd trailer, our 1st was a pilgrim 2005 29.5 bunkhouse SS. We are pleased with the jayco, it’s definitely a nice upgrade from our last trailer. We switched to the 5th wheel to be able to tow doubles. We enjoy dry camping in the desert and in the sierras as well as campgrounds in the area and at the central coast.
I had a nice solar setup on the old trailer that I transferred to this new to us trailer. Our setup consists of 2-145W Kyocera panels in series for 24 VDC to a Morningstar MPPT 60A charge controller. I’m using 4-6volt Trojan T105 batteries that supply power to the trailer and to a magnum 2000W pure sine I nverter/60a charger. I bypassed the stock battery charger in the fuse panel and I also ran the 120v shore power directly to the inverter and then back to the main breaker in the distribution panel. All of this is monitored by the trimetric 2015 meter, and the remote display panels from the inverter and charge controller. Since doing this we no longer use the generator or plug into power while in storage.
