Newbie

Hello,
We're Craig and Kirstin Horrighs of Punta Gorda, FL. We have 2 boys that keep us on our toes. We currently own a 2015 28BHS Jay Flight. We absolutely love it. We pull it with a 99 Chevy Tahoe. We are looking to upgrade to a Seismic. I already have a 2018 Ford F450 on order. Should be in around January 2018. We going to live in it full time for the next 6 to7 years. I have 4 years left before Military Retirement, then we want to travel around and enjoy time with our little boys. We would rather travel at that point of our life, instead of waiting until we are older.

We owned a bunch of RV, everything from Popup camper to a diesel pusher Motorhomes. We owned great brands and crappy brands. We owned brand new and we owned 15 year campers. Jayco is one of the better manufactures of RV. Had no issues with our jayco.

Looking forward to talking to everyone and learning more about the best brand of RV.

I can't wait to get the F450. It's just an XL, but I did all the options to make it close to an XLT. Fifth wheel prep, trailer camera package. Granite with grey cloth interior with Vinyl Floor. I really didn't need the F450. I got the F450 over the F350 because of the 19.5 tires.

I have considered an F450 also if/when I replace my current Ram. Nothing wrong with an XL. That is likely the package I would go with on a Ford.

I've had 3 Ram trucks all of them Cummins. I looked at Ram this time. My wife and I really like the Ford this time. I think they have the best truck right now. My parents just bought 2017 Chevy 3500. It's a sharp truck but they already having issues with it. Minor stuff, but still having to take it to the dealership. The truck has less than 2k miles. My work trucks are Ford F450. They're awesome beside the tires an batteries. I'm glad Ford went back to19.5 tires. We were eating up the 17" tires.

Yep, I've owned a Cummins Ram since 1992. Love everything about them and haven't ruled out getting another one. 2 things have me interested in the new Ford. First, I'd love to give the aluminum body a try. Living in the rust belt, we are constantly dealing with rust issues. Some love the idea of the aluminum body and some hate it. But, it can't be worse that what we deal with now. Secondly, all of out local Dodge dealers were closed during the last several rounds of restructuring. Our closest Dodge dealer is now 25 miles away from home. There is a Ford dealership 3 miles from me and I pass one on my way to work everyday. I do almost all of my work myself, but it would be great to have a dealer close by in case of needed warranty work etc.

Welcome to the JOF. Thank you for serving our great country. Your decision to start camping while you are relatively young is a good one. I retired 22 years ago and we just recently started our rving experience although we have done a lot of traveling and cruising around the globe. Now we are seeing more of our great country and Canada.
