1607 The year of the first settlement at Jamestown, Va. Went there last year as a chaperone for 4th graders field trip. Pretty neat place with all the artifacts/skeletons etc they have dug up there.

1611 dg, you forgot your history lessons, didnt ya? Jamestown, Va is the location of the first settlement in North America. Ya know, Pocahontas, Captain John Smith and all that stuff. Yorktown Va, is where Cornwallis surrendered to Washington, 1781 I believe pretty much ending the Rev, war. Colonial Williamsburg was the capital of Va. and is now restored to look like a colonial town and is a major tourist attraction.

Crabman, I have been a West Texas desert rat all my life....I have visited the West Coast, Central US and Canada, but have yet to travel anywhere East, and I have distant relatives in Virginia....it's time I hook up the 5er and make a little jog your way.
