The hisssss of the lantern while we played cards and board games.

Bed time: Watching from my bunk, Dad turned town the lantern at bit, checked on my younger brother and sister in their bunks, and then turned off the lantern and crawled into his bunk as the room darkened.

The hisss slowly quieted and the room gradually grew ever dimmer, dimmer. My eyes strained to see the table, chairs, ice box I knew were there in our one-room cabin but they slowly faded with the dimming light....

That old stuff brings back lots of memories. Lots of GOOD memories.

That's a really cool hobby. Alas, I use a rechargeable battery operated LED. Main reason is it was given to me as a Christmas present from my dad a few years ago.

I have two Coleman propane lanterns, one is auto light and one is match light and I use a propane distribution tree on a 20lb tank. Our BSA Troop also uses only Coleman propane lanterns mounted to propane distribution trees.
