Green Egg Mini Max
My dealer gave me a Green Egg MiniMax with my recent purchase. Just put it together. Aside from the weight, I’m pretty intrigued by this thing. Anyone use one of these small ones camping?

What, included with camper purchase?
I have an Akorn Jr. that I use every trip camping. I use as a charcoal grill everyday and have purchased the stone to use it as a smoker. Has had a small brisket on it, ribs, sausage, and wings when set as a smoker.
As s grill it has done everything. Very fuel efficient and when I am done I close the vents to use the rest of the charcoal for the next day. I have a coleman table I put mine on.

I am curious how the ceramic egg will hold up traveling. I have the full size Akorn and I have tipped it over rolling it to where I was going to cook with minor damage to the steel but ceramic I am sure would have been in several pieces. I have seen some mini Eggs at campgrounds but never stopped to ask how they pack it.

Yes, it’s was included with purchase. I picked up an Eagle 321RSTS. Costly grill.
I wondered as well about the durability during travel. I’d really like to bring it along, but not sure at 80lbs. Been reading up on it and watching some videos as well. Can’t wait to try it out.

No, still out of town for work. I get back Saturday and if I’m home early enough I may try it out then.

Green Egg Mini Max
I finally tried out the egg last night....sort of. I just lit a fire in it and tried to learn temp control. This thing is awesome. Super easy to light. Then, got it up to 650 to see how far it would go. Very easy to control the temp at 400. Finally extinguished it after a couple hours and when I checked this morning it had barely consumed any charcoal. The one issue, is it’s heft. 80lbs. I’d love to take it camping but not sure how to store it for travel.

Very nice. I knew you would like it. Very versatile grill/smoker. Kamados are great.
The main problem with yours is ceramic is heavy and brittle. I really do not think they are very portable. 80lbs is heavy to lug around.
My Akorn Jr. is 40lbs and I find it heavy.

I was supposed to get the Green Egg mini with my purchase but they were out of them, so I was given the mini max. The mini is comparable to what you have at 40lbs I think. This may just end being an at home grill. Stick with the small Weber grills for camping. Have one small Weber charcoal and a Weber Q propane I carry.

Or buy an Akorn Jr for the RV and keep the minimax at home. Hahaha.
I now take my Akorn Jr. as the grill and have a Weber smokey Mountain for smoking meats at the campgrounds. Once you start smoking meats you will always want to. Buy some ribs and sausage for your first smoke. Applewood and hickory chunks to throw in there.
