You can use a few of the existing holes (the middle ones on the left and right as I recall. But you sort of have to angle the self-tapping screw just a tad to do so. I just drilled a new pilot hole right next to those existing holes so i could tap the screw in straight. As to the other holes, yes you drill a small pilot and then use stainless self-tapping from Lowes or HD or Ace. (I took one of the existing black screws with and had them match the same size screws.) It's really a quick job. Like I've said elsewhere, I'l likely someday run a bead of silicone around the outside if I feel the motivation to but for now it's sealed tight up against the existing plastic. Oh, I did sand a tad on the black plastic around the holes after removing the existinfg screws because it leaves little plastic burrs and I wanted the chrome plate to fit tight up against it.
