Bit the bullet and got one last night from Amazon. Seems highly rated and a pretty good price ($75 shipped).

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product

Finally decided the topper would be best for somewhat of a silly reason. I dont want to throw away my almost new current queen mattress and I dont have anywhere to store it if I replaced the bed....

Will let you know how it turns out.

I just use an old "egg crate" foam topper that I had from my old HTT - seems to do well, and I don't guess its as hot or cold as memory foam.

Has anyone tried one of those Select Comfort Air Beds (Number beds)? I have slept on a Select Comfort Air Bed (before they even had the numbers) for over a decade in my stick and brick home, and it is still like new. I figure it would save a lot of weight in the fiver, but I don't know if they make 'em short enough?

thoughts?
I went with a full mattress replacement because I'm a big guy (6'4", 280 lbs). I didn't think a topper would add enough cushion for me. I also wanted some extra length, I never did cut mine, I just squeeze by instead. As far as height, it is level with the side tables.

Yep - used it for a full week and the bed felt so much better! Was it as good as a new mattress, no - but I can no longer feel the springs under my back. I also did not feel my wife get out of bed near as much so it was providing good isolation.

Interesting how it change firmness depending on the temperature. It was cold when I first put it out and it was a rock - but when I was out and it was in the 70s it was much softer.

Boys and Girls!! Why are we trying to save a couple bucks on a mattress? I'm 6'4 and try to keep at 250lbs. A Serta 80"x50" we sleep on every night with the best pillow top is what we also placed in our TT. Why scrimp? Sleep fantastic and ready for the morning coffee each day. We're only weekenders!

Hiya rwstinson! I know this is an older thread that you posted in but I also missed welcoming you to the JOF back in January 2012. Hope your weekend experiences are doing well
