Shurflo 4008 pump/ strainer ?

I have a new Shurflo 4008 pump and strainer to install. When I thread the strainer on the pump it ends up being on the top or shall I say upside down, my old pump a 2008 the strainer is on the bottom which seems to make more sense to me and less messy to clean, it must be the pump threads as even to old strainer off my 2008 will end up upside down when I thread it on the new pump. I don’t want to force the strainer further on the pump threads for fear of cracking something. The pump mounts on the floor under the kitchen sink

Give this a try. Wrap Teflon tape on the male threads. Be careful to start the tape a couple threads from the end, so nothing gets into the pump. I'd think a few wraps around may be enough so it'll tighten up sooner. It'll be trial and error to find the right thickness of teflon tape.

Good idea, I’ll give that a try. I will be sure not to overtighten using the tape.
Thank you,
John

That did the trick. No leaks.
Thanks again.
