Can I assume this is also the case for my front engine diesel MH?

I never use OD when towing. My truck can do it, but I'd rather keep in in 4th gear (in tow/haul mode) and let the engine work at a higher rpm (better torque in a gasser with more rpm's). I feel like I'm doing my engine and tranny a favor by driving this way.

I've tried using the OD gears a few times, and I might get just a mile or so more MPGs. Not worth the fuel savings to me if keeping the gearing lower/ RPMs higher is easier on my drive train. I do know that my transmission temp stays pretty low the way I tow.

My Dodge diesel mechanic says use the tow haul setting. That is what it is for and the computer will take care of everything. The 5.9L Cummins Engine has been around for a long time so unless absolutely necessary, I use the tow haul mode.

25,000+ miles towing with OD on.. the only time you lock out your OD is when the transmission starts to hunt for a gear.. then start downshifting till it stops ... unless you have way too much trailer for your tow vehicle..

FYI.
Meadows11 2003 Expedition wasn't available with a tow haul mode.
