Suggestions for an A frame mount for bike rack.

I'm trying to find a way to mount our bikes and rack on the front of our trailer. We have a Thule T2 rack and two mountain bikes. Which weight about 112 pounds In total. I currently put them in the bed but I want to free up some bed space and keep them from knocking around. The issue I'm finding is that all of the a frame mounts i have found are only rated for 100 pounds. I would prefer to utilize our existing rack, what else is out there

Fork mounts in your bed are inexpensive and handy, Keep your bikes upright, seperated and easy to put in and out.

2 of these and a piece of 2 x 6 should do the trick!

This is what I do. The bikes don't bounce or move at all. With two bikes perpendicular in the bed I still have a lot of room in the front of the bed for other cargo.

I just installed a jack-it. From lippert. Seems to work good. But you got to be strong enough to hang the bikes.

Getting a receiver hitch installed on the back of the camper seems to be the best way to go...I'm going to do that at some point. Mounting one to your bumper sounds like a bad idea; get it attached to the frame.

That is a pretty good idea. I am trying to get them out of the bed, but I may do this if I can't find a way to get them out of there

Arvika makes the original A-frame mount. Also similar cheaper version available from Stromberg Carlson, but have read of quality issues. And of course the new Jack-It from Lippert mentioned above.

I opted for the Arvika 2" receiver instead of the full rack so that I could use a stock Thule rack and change it over to the truck for drives to the biking trails.

Any clearance issues when turning sharp with the back of your TV with that setup?

bankr63, what is your tongue weight with the extra 100+ pounds on the front end? Still under the max rating?

No clearance issues. When I first got the setup I was surprised by how far the Thule stuck out. It didn't feel that far when used on the back of the SUV. I took the rig over to the local mall and had my son watch carefully as I tried some very tight turns. Got within a couple of inches of the back glass, but does not interfere. The back of the Traverse does have some curve to is as well, YMMV on a slab backed SUV, but there are racks with less arm length than the Cross-Track.

No problems with tongue weight, and I have verified on the CAT scales. Note that the actual point load on the frame from the setup is at the back of the A-Frame, about three feet back from the tongue, so not all of the load is on the tongue. I would estimate no more than 60% to the tongue based on the location on the frame.

True tongue weight (without WD bars) is 680# or 14.9% of GTW. Towards the high end, but within tolerance. With the WD bars engaged, TW is reduced to about 500#. That's with 2 adult (one VERY tall adult) bikes in the rack.
