Towing the Eagle HT 30.5CKTS FW
Does anyone tow the Eagle HT 30.5CKTS with a Ford 150? I like this floor plan but not sure if my 150 is enough truck for this. Going to the RV show this weekend and would like to make a deal on one. Any help would be much appreciated. My truck is a 2017 F150 Crew Cab with 6.5' bed, 3.5L EcoBoost, Max Trailer Tow.

I have a excel spreadsheet that you enter in numbers and it will let you know if your capable to tow interms of limit.
If you send me the gvwr and payload numbers on the stickers on the inside of the driver door I can check for you. I assume you have 3.55 for the rear axel ratio as you have the EB.

Thanks for your help, I do have the 3.55 axel. The GVWR numbers are Front 3,600lbs, Rear 3,800lbs, and GVRW 7,050lbs.

How much is the payload, sticker should be on the tire sticker ont he inside of the door.
How much would you think the weight you will have in the back of the truck bed and inside the truck including passenger weight.

Sorry, never noticed the payload on the tire sticker. It reads 1,677 lbs. I guess that answers it then. With a 200lbs hitch, 350lbs of passengers plus firewood that doesn't leave much for a fifth wheel in the bed. I am assuming that the payload sticker is dictated by the tires. I'm assuming the truck itself should be able to handle more with different tire and possibly rims?

The sticker is the end all. Your RAWR is usually reached when you hit the CCC.
Weigh your truck with as much as you can predict you'll take on a camping trip. What you have left is what you can use for a 5th pin or trailer tongue weight.
1540 lbs for a dry pin will be 1700 lbs before you even load any camp gear or clothes in the bedroom. Add a 5th hitch at 150 lbs and you're at 1840. Looks like you'd be 2100 lbs or more all loaded up.
With that low of a CCC you need to stick to travel trailers.

Here is the calculation for your setup, your available payload without the FW and with 350lbs of passengers and plus 100lbs of weight in the bed you only have 1,227lbs of payload available. Giving the dry hitch weight of this trailer is 1,615, your already over your payload.
See attachment for the excel spreadsheet. Because you are over your payload your over your GVW what the truck can handle. Personally I will never tow a fifth wheel with a 1/2 ton, even though there are some towable fifth wheels, you will be maxing out. Upgrading the tires may help but the frame of the F150 can't support it.
I also wanted a fifth wheel but like you, I had the truck first and when I did my homework, there was no way I was going to get one. I ended up getting the Jayco 28bhbe and even with that, I only have few hundred pounds of payload available.
best of luck and be safe

Thanks for all your help. I should probably upgrade to a 250 or 350 diesel or stick to travel trailers, not FW's.

A perfect example of someone who did the right thing first; came on and asked the appropriate questions with the appropriate knowledge and found out the easy way instead of the hard way.
