2018 x23B Backup Camera

Hello all. We're in the process of trying to buy a 2018 x23B and had a question regarding the backup camera. Is the black mount in the attached picture that is sitting beneath the left tail light the camera mount? It seems to be a weird location for a camera, so I wasn't sure. If not a camera mount, what is it?

Appreciate it. Been reading the forums and getting up to speed on the camper. We can't wait until we take possession!

Thanks

Welcome Aboard! That is your license plate bracket.

It is not prepped for a backup camera. If it is prepped it is up high at the center marker light.

One thing I would check and be concerned about, is the rear bumper. Most of the time they are not built strongly so they cannot handle the weight of things hanging off of it, aka the storage tote. Check the bumper mounts!

Thanks Jagiven. I should have realized that. Lots to learn

I'll check the bumper mounts when I go to pick it up.

Yes, it should be up in the center, probably replacing that center light.
Which explains something that always puzzled me: I expected the prepping to mean that the camera was powered from the regular 12V line, but it is actually hooked up to the running lights - which means you always need to drive with your lights on. But this explains it.
I also noticed the spare tire on the bumper. Mine (X17Z) is hanging under the hitch frame, adding to the considerable tongue weight.
