Dried Roof Caulking

I take Harvey the RV in for some get ready for summer maintenance and the techs tell me the the caulking on the roof is dried and cracking and needs to be replaced.

Estimated cost: about $1000.

This is El Paso, in the middle of the desert and it is 103 degrees today, so i can believe that something like that would happen.

The question is, can I fix this myself or should I pluck down the grand?

I would do it myself.
You can clean the old with Acetone and apply over top with Dicor.

I bought a 50' roll of 6" eternabond for about $80. I was really careful and covered all the caulking, including the caulk around the sewer vents, which was a bit of work.

I washed the roof in the morning, applied the eternabond in the afternoon.

So you just put the Eternabond right over the caulk?

Yes, that is why I used 6" wide eternabond.

I did have to cut down a strip for the space between frig vent and edge of the roof. I cut it with my large scissors.

When I put down the eternabond I use a hair dryer to heat the old caulking and a PLASTIC putty knife to remove some of the old caulk
