Heading out this morning !

Big1 just posted in another thread about going to Arizona this coming summer. Big1, if you're reading this, I'm going to beat you to it! I just finished preflighting the camper and I'm heading out this morning for my annual month in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas!

Well, I didn’t make it far!!

I’m currently waiting at an RV repair center in North Florida because the gas side of my hot water didn’t ignite this morning, and my hair is a fright!

Since there is some soot outside the exhaust I’m guessing an insect nest will just have to be blown out...fingers are crossed...

If you watch them, you can do it yourself next time. It's a common annoyance.

Best bet is to buy the little Camco screens from ebay to go over all the outside vents... keeps the critters out.

But you are On the road again. Better than at home on the couch, due to weather.

Yes! WH, furnace and fridge. Those little critters love to play house in those places.

Norty, wish I'd thought of that! There was a big box store not far from where I was camped (Dixie RV near Crestview, FL) that got me right in. I was out in thirty minutes!

I thought it was bugs because I had some soot above the vent, which I read on another thread in this forum could be caused by a propane "blowback," which I couldn't hear or see since I was in the camper when I activated the switch. Sure enough... The flame also destroyed some part (I don't remember which), but it was only around $20 to replace. Got out for a total of $104, which included a free breakfast while I waited.

I do have them! I tested the water heater on both electric and propane during the PDI and the heater worked fine. I didn't get around to installing the screens until a few weeks later. Long enough for the little buggers to crawl up my orifice! I've been out several times since the PDI but always used the electric side. One more thing to make sure is on the preflight list.

Now, back to business and on to Texas!

Hello John from central Fl. I to am planning a 2-3 mos trip only in your direction, I am in Phx (100degrees today) question how do you forecast the weather for your trip ? I understand this is hurricane season. I hope to head east thru San Antonio to Galveston following the coast to Clear water then North to S.C. up to Ohio.any suggestions have never traveled this route.
Thanks for any help
