That is the better way to fix it !!!! I may copy that Idea

Go for it Lear Jet. It works great, and you don't have to remember to open or close a valve.

I think this topic sounds similar to this thread: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...oss-97719.html

Potentially you have more options for bringing the hoses back up to a place that is above the tank and not so unsightly, like what I had to do. My vent hose dangles off the side of a gas cap

I also did the same but I ran that one line near the fill points and put a on/off valve on it. I labeled it "Fresh Tank Overflow". Being near the fill points I never forget to open it up.

it needs to be open when you use the water from the tank or you will collapse the tanks

That is exactly why I did not put a valve in my line. Either filling or using from the tank with a valve closing the vent would be disastrous. Put the open end up high enough to stay out of dust and dirt, and cover it to keep insects out with a screen. Works great!

I used to loose 2/3 tank of fresh water just driving down the road. I got some 1/2” cpvc tubing and some elbows. Re routed the three lines up and hooked them to the floor. Problem solved.
