Install 20in Grill Mounting Rail

I'm looking for some insights on where and how to install a 20in Grill Mounting Rail on my 2019 Greyhawk 29mv.

Mostly, how do I determine where on the outside of the rig to locate a proper framing member or bracket material to secure the rail too?

The rail did not come with mounting screws. What do I use? Wood screws?
There really is very little in instructions other than being careful to secure to a proper spot to support the grill.

Thanks for any insights.

One way to find the studs would be to contact Jayco for a schematic of the wall framing members.

Another way is to look at the sidewall in the morning when the dew is on the wall. The studs and framing will have an outline.

You can use self drilling pocket screws to attach it to the trailer.

Thanks Tom

That's kind of niffy with the morning dew method.
Since it's the high heat of the summer here there isn't much in the way of dew.
I'll see if I can find a means to contact Jayco for the schematic.

Thanks again.

.
We called Jayco and explained what we were looking for and why, they sent us detailed blueprints of the wall structure, reinforcement and where they prep for attachment of cabinets, fixtures and stuff...

One thing we found, They may not have a structural component in the wall, but sometimes they just put a strip of 24ga sheet metal behind the surface so that self tapping screws have more to support the fixture than vacuum bonded foam.

Interesting.
I don't really want to tap a spot hoping it finds a support. I'm not much of a gambler.

By chance do you have a Jayco Greyhawk and can pass along those blueprints??

Thanks for the info!!

I'm having my dealer look at this for me despite the possible labor cost... I simply don't think it's worth the risk to get it "wrong"...

The prints are for the specific model / year of your RV. I can share the prints for our 2015 Seneca FK if anyone is interested, but they are only useful to those with the same year/model.

Here is part of the document that covers our sidewall... (Had to convert to a .jpg as the forum has once again reduced the upload limit to prevent uploading a typical document like a blueprint in .pdf form. )

I'm looking into this one, since it just bolts to the bumper and can be removed if necessary.
