Melbourne L24

We have a new (to us) 2019 Melbourne 24L.
My questions is regarding the rear emergency exit window.
Is there supposed to be a screen for this window? Ours does not have one.

TIA

Most emergency exits are not designed to be opened, so no screen

Strange because my last three travel trailers had screens on the emergency exit windows. We're thinking of having something made for it since it's the largest window and in the bedroom area, so the air flow would be nice.

Thank you!

When open, aren’t they designed to drop to allow a quick exit. Never opened mine so I haven’t got a clue.

Still, I'd love to know if anyone else with a Melbourne 24L has a screen on theirs.

Screen

I purchased a kit off of Amazon I think. Screen material you cut to size and apply double sided Velcro tape to it. Then apply Velcro tape to the window frame. I use a small rod to hold the window open. It allows for fantastic ventilation.

I have a 2017 Melbourne L and have a screen that I fabricated. PatS above has got the plan, buy a kit at your local hardware store, cut to size according to directions. I cut it so that it actually fits into the existing tracks. I then cut some reflected to fill the gaps and further secure it into the frame. To hold the window out, I used some wood dowel (left over mop handes, and notched them to hold out the window. This was no problem for me as I used to own a glass shop where, among other things, we fabricated screens. If this seems a bit daunting to you, I suggest finding a friend who is handy with this kind of thing.

I have a 2021 and on our last trip was looking at doing the same. No screen and would need a rod to hold open!

we enjoy having the additional ventilation adjacent to the bed that a screen provides, the small window there provides essentially trivial ventilation.

Yeah, if you're sleeping next to it on a cold night it helps but that's about it!
