I bought the valve also. Let me know if it was easy to install, perhaps I will try it myself. Did it make a big difference in the sound? Thanks all of you for posting this information. That noise when you first start up has driven me nuts for 3 years..

Installed the check value which took maybe 5 mins. It was about a easy of change as it gets. Been on a 1200 mile trip this week and can say it made a huge difference. You can still hear the compressor and the knocking is about a half or a third what it used to be. That really loud annoying knocking as your driving in a RV park is for the most part gone or at least heavily muted.

Did your install require and additional fittings other than the check valve?

How did you get all the air pressure out of the tank before you disconnect the air line? Cycle parking brake off and on?

Just press in the foot brake about 25+ times until you don’t hear any more air release and your pressure shows 0.

2015 does not have air brakes, 4-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.
Mnwelsh - You can go to the air tank underneath and locate the condensate drain valve. Depress the center "needle" and you can release the air that way. Be prepared, there might be some water released!
You can also put it in neutral (with the engine off and wheels chocked) and cycle the parking brake on and off.
You could also put the jacks in manual mode and repeatedly raise and lower the rear end, that will drain it via the rear air bags.

Thanks Robbbyr, I have the valve but I’m about to head south for a while. I will install it when I’m in warm country. I appreciate your reply.

FYI while shopping for the check valve, ran across this recall campaign from August 2017 regarding missing check valve at the brake modulating valve. Going to check that mine is there. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...7V402-4386.pdf

Valve installed
I just took my 2016 Seneca in for an oil change and to have the valve installed going into the air tank. Ran into a tech with an attitude who told me putting the valve on would void the warranty. That Freightliner has know about this since the 90s. Unfortunately, I had it checked in 2016 and two very nice and experienced techs could not figure out what made the noise. After moving on to someone more reasonable; the valve was installed and makes a tremendous difference. The pinging is heard occasionally, but much quieter and less often. The part, valve, cost somewhere in the $20 range. Labor was $160.It was covered by warranty. So much more peaceful and less embarrasing.
This site and all the input made all the difference in identifying and getting the problem handled under warranty.
Thank you all!

So our new to us 2018.5 37TS has the worse pinging noise Ive ever heard from an compressor. I've been around 18 wheelers and fire trucks my entire adult life, never heard anything like this. It is awful! As soon as the comp kicks off noise is gone.. I thought adding the dryer cured this problem? This coach has a dryer but still every time it kicks on loud knocking noise..

Valve
I suggest having Freightliner installl the valve I recently had done. Doesn’t completely eliminate the sound but it does most of it. They mentioned if it had the dryer on it would not do that, apparently not. Easy fix for someone who is ok installing their own valve.

Valve installed
Took 20 minutes. Has cut the hammer sound by at least 75%!

Hi Mark,
What is that air line with the red handle in the last photo?

Hi Dave,
The line with the handle is an air chuck I added to fill my tires instead of carrying a portable compressor. I put an in-line shutoff valve in case the air chuck decided to leak. I’ve used it a couple of times and it works well. With a 25 foot air hose I can reach all tires and the Jeep if needed.
