Quick update:

1. I lowered the rear of the truck nearly 2" (at the axle, more at the rear of the bed) by installing the revised shackles. The truck still has some minor rake when not loaded, but it is greatly reduced. A side benefit is that I can now reach over the side of the box (I'm 5'11") to grab things out of the bed.

2. Trailer shackle bolts were re-installed in the lower holes as a part of doing the Mor-Ryde wet bolt upgrade.

3. We will see how the rig sits when we get it out of the barn this spring before we play with the hitch height. With any luck I can go down an inch or so on the hitch.

I don't believe that is your problem unless there has been some type of front suspension failure. If that were the case then fix that problem rather than try to retro fit the 5er.

These aging gm trucks are a common tow vehicle. Get yours fixed and get on down the road.
X2. I have an 07 Silverado 2500HD with no sag anywhere. Tows our 2018 HT 27.5 just about level, +/- 1 inch

First thing is that you need a minum of 5" between the bottom of your 5er and your pickups bed rails. You can read my post to what I did with the type of pickup I have to my height problem.

Yeah I know. Because of the truck rake and the trailer being nose high, I had about 7 at the hitch but only about 4 at the tailgate.

It will be interesting to see where we are when we get it out in the spring (barn is snowed in). I am hoping that we will be at 6+ at the tailgate, which will allow me to lower the hitch an inch and be at about 6 inches everywhere (that is, level).
