Bottle in black tank

My son dropped a 2.5" bottle diameter in the blank holding tank. Any suggestions on how to removed that. I haven't tried anything yet.

Empty tank and then stick hose from a shop vac down through the bowl.
Just a thought

With a little luck it will come out while dumping!

Unfortunately, you'll be getting dirty. I would remove the toilet and see how accessible it is. If that's not working, I guess it's time to drop the tank.

Could try filling BT with just water and dumping the tank, it may just float out.

Or may float to top if full of water where you may be able to grab it.

Get a rental sewer scope and see if you can get it out. Depending on how your dump pipe is would determine if you could get it out or not. Again scope the lines to confirm.

Remove toilet then you have better access. Either vacuum or fill the tank with a bit clean water so it floats.

You could always tell your son he has smaller arms, and he has to reach in there to grab it. It will be helping you, and giving him a lesson on why you shouldn't do that. WIN WIN LOL

Tell your son that during the next summer break he has to find a summer job at the college. Another poor stab at humor.

One of my kids stuff "something" in the toilet that clogged it. I tried everything to get the thing out. Removed the toilet and still couldn't get it out from either end. I finally broke the toilet just to find out what the heck was stuck in there so tight. What I found was one of those old round plastic toys, the one with the little balls inside that you try to get all of the balls in holes without knocking the others out. That "discover" cost me the price of a new toilet.

BEST ANSWER.

My idea was to get rid of the son and simply live with it.

Fill the tank and then raise or lower the tongue jack and grab it as it floats by.

Buy a new black tank and a new bottle of similar proportions. Then buy 2 ferrets and train them to retrieve the bottle from the new tank. In 2 or 3 months when they have it learned, send them into the campers tank. Problem solved.

Now that's a great idea.

Do you have in tank black flush? Just take off the gate valve and hook up a hose and the water flush will push it out.

Leave it there. While traveling down the road, the bottle will thrash around knocking any dried on sludge off the sides of the tank.

Happened to me!

Don't mean to laugh but the same thing happened to me last season, I won't say how, but my fault. Anyway, I removed the toilet, tried the vac, tried all kinds of things, nothing worked. Of course my fear was that at some point it would clog the black water drain. I have a couple tight turns, one probably close to 90 degrees. Finally, I said the "Moderator edit " with it and I would keep my fingers crossed that it would never clog, if it did I would deal with it then. Well, lo and behold, about 2 camping trips later the "Moderator edit " thing came out when draining the tanks. Amazed me, needless to say I was one happy camper. I was lucky I think, how it made it around and through I will never know. The only thing I would say I did try to do was make sure my black tank was full so there would be as much pressure as possible pushing. Anyway, that is my story, good luck!
