Diesel exhaust mess

Does anyone else have diesel exhaust soot getting on their trailer? I have a
DP Tuner and when towing, I set it at the 40HP Tow setting - it's definitely NOT blowing black smoke out the tail pipe. Would a different exhaust tip help, maybe deflect it down more? I have stock exhaust with muffler delete.

It couldn't hurt to try a turndown directed at the pavement and see if that helps.

I had the same issue with my previous F350. Since i wash the trailer after every outing, it wasn’t a big deal but it did make the trailer look grungy after a long haul. I considered a turn down exhaust tip but ended up with a newer truck that hasn’t had the dpf fall off yet. When it does, I’ll get an appropriate tip instead of keeping the stock tips. [emoji23]

Thanks for the replies guys. I see I'm not the only one with this problem. It's just a fact of diesel life, I guess.

My diesel had a bad injector. Smoked at times. Finally failed at night and filled the #1 cylinder with diesel, scored the walls and bent the crank. New motor and not on warranty.

Check with the maker of your tune and ask if smoke is expected. If not, pursue the problem.

If it is common, get some 303 or other really good polish and keep it polished. Soot plus water could hurt the paint and decals. Easier to keep clean if waxed.

Do you have rear mud flaps? I do and maybe they are why I haven't had a soot problem without a turndown.
