Fresh Water overflow 2016 Jayco 27.5 FW

I hope the above photo shows up. I have two hoses for overflow or air or whatever from my fresh water tank. In case the above photo does not come up, one of the hoses is flapper hose (my term because I do not know what it is called), a larger version of the flapper hose on a Diesel Exhaust Fluid 2.5 gallon jug. In that case the flapper is used to let air into the DEF jug as fluid empties.

So, my problem is that after filing 30 gallons into my 48 gallon fresh water tank the water starts flowing out this flapper hose and stays flowing even after I turn the spigot off. It will stop flowing after about 5 to gallons of water is lost leaving me with only 20 to 25 gallons of water in my fresh water tank.

So, any ideas you might have regarding this problem is greatly appreciated.

Try rolling up the flat fire hose and put a zip tie on it.
Its a poor design that seems to give everyone a headache that fills the fresh tank full. It starts a siphon action on the tank if it gets water in it. We never fill ours we Just put maybe 10-20 gallon in it to allow for hand washing and toilet flush along the way.

Yep, those overflow hoses really suck. Many of us have put valves on them but you have to remember to open them up when filling or you will blow up your tank.

My Greyhawk has 3 hoses. I think 2 of them are overflows which tell you when the tank is full and the other may just be a vent. I found that I would lose almost 1/3 of the tank during transit before I put the valves on. Now I arrive with a full tank which is needed when dry camping.

I also recently found out that the water will flow out before the tank is full if you are filling at full pressure. On my tank I could look through the wheel well and see the amount of water in the tank. I believe that filling with full pressure forces the water through the hose sooner than when it would start its normal siphon action.

Now my sequence is open valves, fill fast most of the way, slow filling, shut valves when they puke. Then when I set up at camp I will open the one vent valve. This has been working very well for me.

I mounted my valves on a little piece of angle aluminum on the bottom edge of the rig.

I too have similar in both hoses at the FW tank and the siphoning effect at overflow conditions. I generally watch the level lights and when the full light comes on I stop the filling and shift my alignment. Maybe not totally full but I don't seam to waste runoff for 15min.
