Outside grill
Anyone buy the outside grill that fits the rail on a Jayco fifth wheel?
Wondering if they are decent quality and how good they actually work?
Thanks

I never bothered. .. I had one 3 SOB's ago and never again. They are cheapo junk.
Save your money for a Weber Q or something similar.

I have one. It's a basic grill. It works fine and I do like the swing arm mount on the bumper. With that said it is not the quality of my Weber. I like it in the sense that it's integrated and when it wears out I will dislike it for the same reason....
It distributes the heat well and cooks evenly.

The jayco grills are not up to par with a Weber. It works ok for basic burgers and hot dogs. You could probably cook anything on it really... (I have a Weber Q1200 too). The jayco grill is really worth about 30 bucks, thin cheap metal all around with a sub par grate, but I'll use it until it falls apart and then do the low pressure propane mod on the Weber and fabricate a mount for it, cannibalizing the existing one if I can. I wouldn't buy one if it doesn't come with the camper. The bumper mount is an odd beast in itself.

Yes and you are better off spending the $200.00 on something better. You can even get an aftermarket one in SS for half the cost that can mount on the rail if provided.
They rust out within a year.

I've had a Sidekick for 7 years with not a single complaint. It was part of a package when I bought the trailer. When/if I ever need to replace it I wouldn't hesitate to get another one, unless of course the price is totally stupid.

My previous trailer came with the Jayco grill. It is not even close to my Coleman. I do continue to use it on occasion when we are destination camping and will only be doing very light-duty grilling.
I would not buy it separately. I'd go Coleman or Weber.

Well, at first I did not like my Jayco grill. Of course, I had never used it before, and burned everything. Then I played with it little more and got used to it's quirks, (just like any grill).
This Labor day, I made some rally tasty salmon on it, and by the response of the folks eating, I scored a victory.
If you are grilling for a LOT of people, then this is not for you. Heck, even those Webers don't have a lot of surface space. I can throw about 6 burgers onto mine. Need more space than that? Then get a bigger one.
For my wife and I , the Jayco cheapie will do just fine. Perhaps I will get something else in the future when I have $200 to throw around.

Outside grill
I actually didn't heed the warnings, and purchased the "sidekick" grill from an Amazon supplier.
Knowing full well the '32 doesn't have any wall space to hang it, so I knew i'd be doing the bumper mount.
Unfortunately the ladder is on the right of the TT tail, which put the swing arm out of the picture.
So I'm still working on a DIY mount for it. I've mounted a bumper mounted receiver hitch, and am working out a shank solution.
The grill does OK as a table mount, and it does use the low pressure connection, but it isn't the best grill i've ever used.
I'm thinking of snipping off the warming rack, it's always in the way for me.
And one of the latches' springs broke on the first day. So it's not heavy duty.
I'm too committed now to give up. [emoji3]

I too wouldn't have bought it as an option but once I started using it we use it for breakfast cooking instead of heating up the inside of camper, we started this year using it for our oven too when its hot outside so we keep the camper cool. It works great for baking potatoes or doing our breakfast bake

Our old hybrid came with a RVQ, and it was okay, but not great. Uneven heat and lots of flare-ups. When we were talking to our dealer when buying our Jayco, he said that the grills that come with them aren't great, and they don't even offer them, but would order one if we wanted. He recommended saving our money and getting a real grill, which we did when we got our Weber Q1000. Once modded to run off the trailer's propane system, there's no looking back.

Hey north, did you also fab up a bracket? Looking back, my whole desire for the grill was to use the low pressure gas and use the bumper to support it, thus saving yet another table that needs setting up. [emoji2]

The way I look at it, I could take the $200 I spent for the RVQ and add it to a little more and get a great grill instead of a boat anchor!
I got one with my rig and had no choice either.

The RVQ on our hybrid came with its own bracket, and with the Weber and 10' of hose, that's usually enough to reach the picnic table. If not, we have an aluminum folding table we bring and sometimes use.

If you want an RVQ style then I would go this route since the grease actually has a place to go and tray to catch it.

It would be nice to see a company like Weber produce a quality product for the RV industry. I suppose in the big picture the market just isn't there for them to justify it.

Check target stores. We scored a weber q1200 for 99 bucks. Just have to figure what's needed to run it from my camper propane line. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there is a way I can do this using the regulator from my attached grill that came with the camper?
