valve stem failure

We just returned from about 10 days on the road with our Eagle 325bhqs. In a period of about 5 days I had 3 flat tires. And they all occurred because the metal part of the valve stem separated from the rubber part that holds the stem in the tire. Thanks to our TPMS the pressure loss was detected and were were able to pull over in a safe place. Oh, I forgot to mention that the 4th tire, the one that didn't go flat was recently replaced because we picked up a large screw in its sidewall. Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Not yet

Please post more info, the age of the valve stems (OEM?) and the type of TPMS system so others can be aware.
Thanks!

I lost my trust in china valve stems years ago. I always convert to bolt in metal.

Valve stems are rated for pressure. If low pressure stems are installed in a high pressure tire, they will fail. The low pressure stems are u to 60 or 65. Over that, they need to be high pressure.

I believe there have been valve stem recalls over the years.

The tire pressure sensor are from EEZtire-TPMS. The tires are on a 2018 Eagle and probably only have a few thousand miles on them. They are factory original Good Year Endurance ST235/85 R16 tires. Does that help?

Yes, Last September 2020 ,2 of my rubber valve stems on my trailer failed at the same time. Both stems were like jello when I checked them after they both lost air . They were on different sides of the trailer. Replaced them with metal stems at tire store . Still doing good as of today. This is still a mystery to me why they got soft like jello...

Pics of the bad stems? They should be rubber at the wheel and then transition to metal up to the threads. If all rubber to the threads, they are low pressure.

Yes the failed ones were low pressure stems 40 lbs or less . New stems are metal type , good to 100 lbs..

Here are your pics. I'm thinking that I'll change out the rest of the valve stem with metal ones, including the spare

X-2 especially with a TPM system or extenders on duals.
