31BH Opinions

We purchased a 25BH in July and absolutely have enjoyed it; taking on 6 trips (26 days camping) and approx. 3000 miles before I winterized it last week. The only problem is we are running out of space with 2 adults and 4 growing kids...and one small dog. So we were looking at the 2018 31BH as a replacement and would like feedback on the TT and/or heads up on what to expect pulling a 36ft, 9500# TT behind a 3/4 ton truck. Currently our 2017 Ram CC 2500 CTD doesnt even realize that we have the 25BH hooked to it. Just curious about the issues with pulling a longer (approx. 6' longer than the 25BH) TT. Also, not crazy about the new windshield option on whitehawks...anyone having issues with them (leaks, cracks, etc...)?

The other options are (in order):
1. 29.5 FBDS (light pin weight, not crazy about stairs to bunks for kids to navigate...better get AFLAC)
2. 355mbqs (after I hit lottery and somehow figure out remove pieces of truck to get under cargo carrying capacity for 2455# pin weight...)
Thanks-

My '14 Ram 2500 "pulled" our NP 377 (almost the same at the 355mbqs) just fine! However, when the winds would pick up a bit...it was not fun! So I purchased a 3500 dually. The dual rear wheels make ALL the difference when pulling that heavy an RV. I say you can do it with the 2500, but if the winds pick up when driving, you'll want to pull over for some safety and comfort. Just my .02 cents from my experience.

Agree on the Dually comment. Just went to Arkansas with our 377 and winds were 30+ at times and that extra set of wheels made the winds a non issue. My wife did not even realize it was windy out when we were driving.

Your 17 Ram will not care any more about the 9500# than it does now. Sure you will know it is heavier but it won't be an issue.

Rather than the Whitehawk, why not look into the Jay Flight 33RBTS? Quite a bit cheaper, has 80 gallons fresh water and larger grey and black holding tanks. This will be a bonus with 4 kids! Plus the cabinets and interior feel stronger in the Jay Flights than in the light weight campers.

I have a ram 2015 6.7 (2500) and tow 32tsbh (equalizer hitch) . I have towed it up a few grades and through the desert in the summer at 110 with high wind in the afternoon (blowing about 20mph/gusts) .... Never have I had a worry about towing or felt unsafe. Did it sway with the wind.... U am sure it did a little but I didn't feel it nor saw it. Love the truck/trailer combo!
