battery connection

We have a jayswift 2013 29BHS travel trailer. We are having issues with the GROUND connection to the battery. On our trailer the positive is a black wire, the negative is white, but we are wondering which terminal the ground wire goes to. The ground has a fuse on it. thanks

Positive - black
Negative - white

That is correct for RV wiring, similar to household wiring polarities.

The ground lug to the frame, goes on the negative side, but I surprised to hear that you have a fuse inline on the negative side.

You should also have a line that feeds the breakaway switch, that connects to the positive side ( connects somewhere on the positive line, perhaps at a splice point )

If you are sure that the ground wire you describe is landed on the frame ground lug, then it's negative.

My first thought is someone has altered the factory wiring. Either that or the description is wrong. As Jim said, the fuse in the negative wire is surprising.

The standard set up is a large black wire with a fuse connected to the positive battery terminal. A large white wire going from the frame to the negative battery terminal. There should also be another small wire from the break away switch to the positive battery terminal. If you have an electric tongue jack there will be one more wire going to the positive battery terminal. It may also have a fuse or circuit breaker.

I have a 2014 x18d with the white wire being negative and the black being positive and my fuse is with the black wire. I hope this helps.
