Domectic thermostat issues

Our Jayco Jay Flight SLX 248RBSW has an HVAC system controlled by a Dometic CT solid-state thermostat. This unit is rubbish: the CT (capacitative touch?) keyboard is usually unresponsive, we have to turn it off and let it rest in order to change from AC to heat or back, and there is a recurring, non-rhythmic clicking noise coming from the Dometic AC compressor on the roof when the furnace is blowing heat through the floor vents.
I would like to replace it with an older unit that does not have that stupid CT keyboard.
Are Jayco TT thermostats wired the same as house thermostats? Could I replace it with a Honeywell or standard household unit?

You can replace it with a household unit, but the wiring is different.

If I were you, I would replace it with a dometic t-stat and trade it out wire for wire. The Coleman digital stats are pretty decent, don't know about the dometic ones.

I changed out the stat in my MH (went to digital; same in my old TT), and rather than "rigging" a household stat, I just purchased the coleman mach digital stat and traded it out wire for wire. Super easy.

We have the same one and it works fine, way better than our last unit that had a Coleman.

Try it with cover off.Mine wouldn't work with the cover on.E-mailed Dometic and they sent me a new thermostat.Took the cover off the new one and put it on the old thermostat and now works perfectly.
