Hi from MD! 2019 Jayco 28BHS questions
Hello all! My Wife and I just bought a 2019 Jayco 28BHS. It's our second RV, the first was a 2017 Jayco SLX 267. Prior to that we had a 2011 Rockwood pop-up. We aren't new to RV'ing but new to the forum. Looking forward to helping/learning!
My first question/looking for suggestions - what are some ideas to reinforce the worthless 2x2 bed supports under the master queen bed? Looking for ideas that don't include a jack. Thanks!
-Sam

Flimsy bed support
Congratulations on the new JayFlight and welcome to the forum.
The flimsy supports under the bed have been an issue for a number of us. I'm sure you'll hear from some folks before too long. If you search, you should find postings of what others have done. I could describe what I did, but I have no photos so you're likely to get more from seeing what others have done (a picture worth 10,000 words or whatever ).

Roger that! Yeah I understand, pics def help.
I'm thinking of either framing out the underside with 2x2's at the halfway point. Sort of creating two storage areas under the bed. Instead of having the giant T-shaped storage underneath, I would have one section the shape of a rectangle and then the long pass-thru storage area.

My dealer replaced our, IIRC 1x3s with 2x3s and strengthened the hinged end. That did help, but our bed still curved down from side-to-side in the center when sleeping. It wasn't a huge amount, but it was enough to ruin a good night's sleep.
Like you're considering, many like the divided storage and built a solid wall to support the bed. I'm in the minority and like the wide-open T-shape under the bed. To get support without building a solid wall, I installed a pair of face mount joist hangers to support a 2x4 across the opening. It just touches the bed frame lumber when we are not in bed and the bed is now solid as a rock for great sleeping. The 2x4 just rests in the hangers and, if necessary, can be lifted up to slide our storage tubs etc. around as needed.
Sorry about no photos , but wanted to pass this along as food for thought.

Very good idea indeed. I’m going with that instead. I also want to keep the T shape if I can. Thank you!

We are going to look at a 28bhs this weekend, how do you like it? For the bed, if we get one I plan on welding an aluminum frame up like the Rockwoods use. Less than $100 and it will eliminate all sagging. I've had to re-staple the supports on our x23b and I'm less than impressed with that design.

Off topic, but hello from Perry Hall
We haven’t experienced the issue with the sagging bed like others have. Maybe we got lucky!
But we live right down the road from you in Perry Hall.

That’s awesome! Small world!
Well I ended up framing it out and creating two storage areas. Works great so far!

I have the 28BHS as well. We haven't experienced any issues with the sagging bed up to this point, but my wife and I have talked about making two storage areas over the last several months. Do you happen to have any pics? We're also thinking about a way to create drawers under the bed to eliminate the need to lift the bed to utilize the storage area.

I also have the 2019 28bhs. No issues with the sagging thus far. We threw a 2" memory foam on the top and have always had a good night sleep.

We just finished our fourth trip with our 2019 28BHS and have had the same experience. A 2" foam pad on top has worked well. SWMBO and I are both pretty fluffy and have not had a problem with sagging.
We love the trailer except for the table. I have a scar on my right knee from that forsaken thing. We just use a Lifetime card table with a tablecloth over it now.

We have a 2018 28BHS and have both the sagging bed issue and I have banged the knees on the dinette table legs... We have an 8” memory foam mattress that makes for a good nights sleep however the sagging bed does not. I use a temporary support under the middle of the bed while camping. I do plan on building the wall under the bed to create two separate storage areas and support the bed like many others have done.
Also, just out of curiosity, has anyone else with this unit experienced condensation on the ceiling between the AC and the freezer door on humid days? I have had this happen a few times now and not sure if it’s “normal”?? We were plugged into shore power, fridge was on electric and AC was on.
Cheers [emoji482]

We have not experienced that. Our condensation runs on the roof and into the gutter system.
