Outside Speakers

I've been doing research on outside speakers for my Octane 222 toy hauler. Can anyone recommend a good set of speakers for this thing? These stock speakers are junk. Anyone know hole diameter and depth? Thank you in advance.

karma is a btch...

I replaced my top notch factory speakers /sarcasm off - with a set of polk audio DB651's

you can also spend real money and buy a set of JL's.. and then buy an amp and really go for it...

any good quality marine speaker will work well.. JL is top with others like wetsounds, klipsch etc...

now if you aren't buying amps and you are just using your stereo for output then
Polk audio, kenwood, sony, fusion.. they are all good priced speakers

measure the hole so you know what size you need.. most likely a 6.5" speaker and there are lots of them..

look at cruchfield they have allot of them for reference...

even head to a place and listen to them if you can... if not i think the polk are a great deal for the $$$'s...

Thanks. I found a nice deal on the Kenwood speakers and they have great reviews. Just hoping to avoid cutting anything. Nearby campers will hate me if I buy an amp. I love my music turned up and will have to limit myself. Every time I go get another beer I turn it up. Just looking for better quality sound. Thank you and will look into Polk too. Happy camping!

The speakers are only as good as the POS head unit they're connected to.. Get a nice Bose or JBL Bluetooth speaker

I agree with jloco. I have a JBL Charge and it sounds great. It has more bass than what your speakers would be able to replicate as well.

I replaced the outdoor speakers on my 2013 Whitehawk with some Jensen speakers off Amazon. They were a direct replacement fit and sound better than the originals. Can't beat $20.

Maybe that's not quite on topic, but we stopped using the outdoor speakers and bought a rechargeable Bluetooth speaker that we play both radio station and music from our smartphones. Sound is awesome. Can't recommend a particular brand, they are all available for anywhere between $40 and $100.

I don't use my outdoor speakers EVER. The last thing I want is a neighbor having to listen to my selection of music.

ED - I have a lot of Ham Radio and Emergency Radio channels I like to keep tabs on both during Ecom exercises and just listening to things...

BLUETOOTH was the answer for me... I can have a nice setup with dual speakers or just a nice pocket setup and they all really sound great. have no idea how they make a small pocket speaker sound like that haha... I use the ILUV ones that hold a USB charge for over six hours... Lets me walk around my camp setup and listen to all my channels...

I got a BLUETOOTH transmitter box from AMAZON and have added a multiple AUDIO patch box so I can feed the BLUETOOTH XMTR box with just about anything I plug into it... It gives me a good 80-100 feet coverage area around my POPUP trailer setup...

Those ILUV Pocket speakers also sync in great with the cell phones so I can monitor BROADCASTIFY.com on-line and also listen to county and state police and rescue squad channels all over everywhere... I can also pull in some good country music over the cell phone as well haha...

Someone walking by hearing my country music coming out of my pocket asking what channel I am listening to on your pocket FM radio. Then I pull out my speaker from my shirt pocket with no wires etc and tell them I don't have a FM Radio with me, just the speaker by itself... hehe...

One of these...

I usually have an HT on my hip when I'm outside. I can monitor several things at once, but usually only a couple. My brain can't handle too much input. I have a Wires-X node up, but with only a magnetic mount antenna. It covers the campground I'm in or my home base town nicely and no external antenna is required. I also have an OpenSpot2 and OpenSpot1, as well as a RaspberryPi with a DualBand DVMega on it. Two ID-51A's, two FT1XD's, one FT2D, and one marine handheld. I think I have enough HT's, although the new FT3D looks great just not the price right now. Oh well. If you are on Wires-X take a look for my room, 43046. If I am around I'm usually in it.

Have a great 4th.
