Propane tank holder

So my trailer has the mounting for 20lb tanks and I threw in 30lbs everything the same except the rod needing to be longer ofcourse. Anyways I find it a bit tippy now cuz I guess the bottom of the mount where tanks sit don’t sit close to the bottom. To keep it tight. Should I worry about this? I am able to wiggle it back and fourth but don’t seem like it’ll fall off. But these are propane tanks so I just wanna see if anyone else did this. Instead of buying the whole set up to use 30lbs

The only difference between the 20 and 30 lbs tank setup is the threaded rod length.

Bottom of the tanks have are designed. May just want to make sure you have the tanks pulled up nice and tight, as there should be minimal movement.

By chance do you have the cross tie, securely in the openings of the handles?

💯 got the cross tie at the top yes. They are both at the closet notch so pretty snugged!! I yeah I changed out the rod myself instead of buying a kid with bracket etc since the trailer has it already just don’t recall seeing the 20s wobble. But I didn’t test it b4 I took them off either.

If that’s the only difference then I guess I should be ok. Just seems sketchy

Did you replace the rod with a longer one?

Sorry. I missed where you said that in previous post. Lol. My cross bar sits on different slots for each tank. If it doesn’t, the bottoms don’t sit level. Bottom line, though, is if they’re locked in at the top and bottom, they’re not going anywhere. ;p

X2, with the tanks sitting loose, I find what ever notch that slips down handle assembly. Never., have I used the two most center notches. Don't think, I even ever used, the same notch on each side.

3X My tanks are also in different notches. I also put the bracket in the hand hole on the tank not on the top.

Yeah I have it in the hand hole. The top would make it more tippy I would think lol. There is only 2 notches on each side. But I have them both on the inside notch

Never heard it referred to as ready rod.
I know it as all thread.

Learn something everyday!

"All thread rod (ATR) is a common, readily available fastener that is used in multiple construction applications. Rods are continuously threaded from one end to the other and are frequently referred to as fully threaded rods, redi rod, TFL rod (Thread Full Length), and a variety of other names and acronyms."

I think the repeated point (ie x2, x3) is the 2 center notches are probably not the correct choice. I also have never had a trailer where that worked. One center, and one outside is much more likely to work for you.

Other than that....Make sure the tanks are seated, in the stand. Verify that if you have a set of nuts that hold the regulator in place, they are properly positioned to allow the spinner/nut on top to fully tighten.

I did the same thing. The only thing that I did different is put a nut under the bracket and one on top of the bracket on the All thread Rod and tightened the nuts down. seem to me that it did not wiggle as much

Just wondering... can you use the same regulator from a 20# dual tank set up when switching to 30# dual tanks?

yes. The regulator does not care what size the tanks are.
