Roof vents

After two months I just discovered that there is only 1 roof vent (in the bathroom) of my 23 MDS. Any how to advice on putting one on over the bed?

Contact JAYCO and ask for the roof framing drawing. That will tell you if it is already framed for one.

Risk vs. reward. Our Jayflight did not have a bedroom ceiling vent, however, it was a standard offering on the next level up Eagle. So, after resisting for 13 years I finally installed a Maxair vent in the bedroom. I had the framing drawings from Jayco so it was easy to find the correct location for the vent. Used a router to cut the inside ceiling and then an oscillating saw to cut the roof from the inside (only up to the membrane). Got the power from the lighting circuit over the headboard. I believe this to be a worthwhile upgrade. We now have 3 roof vents, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
Send an email to Jayco with your VIN and be specific with your request. In my experience they do not just send all of the drawings for the frame.

When i did mine i cut out the the inside first. Then i drilled a small hole in each corner through the roof. I went up on the roof and cut an X from hole to hole. I peeled the membrane back and cut out the roof. Finally i wrapped each side over and secured them with staples. Hope it helps.

I did almost the same as JohnWedell. After the 4corner holes , the X cut and peeling back the rubber, I cut the 3/8” osb from the inside with the oscillating saw. The the folder and staple. I was relieved to find that the rubber roofing was well adhered to the wood underneath..I always wondered if the roof could be billowing at speed but it wasn’t.

I did virtually the same thing as the two previous posters. There is zero issue cutting the roof membrane where you want a hole to be located. As long as you don't cut outside the dimensions of the flange (a couple inches of leeway) you'll be fine. In fact with the butyl tape/dicor and screws it's quite possibly better secured at that location than it was before cutting it...

Totally worth it for sleeping comfort when not connected to shore power, or when it's moderate enough not to need AC. With the bathroom fan running the other direction or a couple windows cracked open it will turn over all of the air in just a few minutes
