Seal around tub drain

I need to reseal around the tub drain. What is safe to use on those fiberglass shells? Can i use regular silicone sealer?

I believe all our drains (tub and both sink drains) inside are sealed with regular butyl tape that's squished down when they're tightened up.

Yes, and with all the 100 degree days we had this summer in Texas, i think it shrank or melted, or something. I was wanting to reseal it from top, just around the drain, if possible.

I've never tried silicone, nor sealing on top. I'm not in your hot climate, but it has gotten very hot in out TT on the strings of 95* to 98* days we had this summer. I do recall checking the tightening rings on them all a few years ago when it was warm inside, and they did take a 1/4 turn or so.

In my 5th wheel it was a rubber gasket. I replaced the drain and used plumbers putty.

That was it! Tightened it up, no more leaking. Thank you!
