snake in my camper

Good Evening Everybody, just got back from a weekend of camping and we had a visitor last night after boating all day. My wife opened up the camper door and was met by a snake!! As you can imagine she wanted to burn it down. I looked all over for an entry point and can't find anything. Just looking for any help on how it may have entered.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I've got nothin' on how the snake got in, but info on your RV year and model could be helpful.

They, like mice will find the smallest little hole and crawl on in. Likely you have an area in the underbelly that isn't totally sealed. Probably an area where a wire or pipe runs through. If you can see daylight, a mouse or snake can get through.

I have a 2017 287bhsw. After a visit from a mouse behind the stove and pantry I started searching for entry points. You need to remove the distribution panel. Behind that you will find a 5” hole for the water tank through the floor and a few other holes. I sealed the holes with the expandable foam that says to resist pest. Also I found that under the shower drain the floor is cut out to fit the trap. Changing the electrical cord over to a twist lock plug helps also. Since taking care of these items I have had no more issues.

Agree, most likely access points are the openings in the underbelly. Another possibility is thru the storage openings since many of us leave them open when they are at the Campsite.

Not an RV but after moving south 15 years ago we purchased a farm with a small older cabin. During remolding I found numerous "skin" sheds in the attic, upper kitchen cabnets, and voids behind walls etc. Learned to remove them quietly and move on or I ran the risk of DW wanting to "burn it down" and start over. Good news these were all harmless but large black rat snakes that frequent the area and are a great ally in controlling mice. Never the less its not a surprise you want to find when you open the cabinet over the stove and see eyes staring at you.

2 Summers ago, we returned to our sticks and bricks to find the drain stopper pushed out of the bathroom sink. Didn't think much of it until we found a skin behind the water heater. Not sure how it accessed the drain, but I'm almost positive that is the way it came in.

Finally got it using sticky traps and eggs of all things. Just a black snake, but had the DW out of her mind.
