Too-bright LEDs
We love our new SLX212, but one thing is TOO good — the round “puck” LED fixtures are just too bright, especially over the bed and dining table. I know I’ve seen references here to mods to soften them a bit, including using photo “gels” inside the plastic diffuser covers? I assume they just pry off? Apologies for starting a new thread, but my search wasn’t turning up much. Thanks all.

I haven't done it. But yes, the covers just pop off. So if you wanted to put a gel in there, I don't see why you couldn't.
Depending on the year, those lights my be under recall. So I'd check on that as well.

Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like those were 2017 and earlier; ours is 2018. This site is helpful to check for recalls: JAYCO RECALL NOTICES - LATEST RECALLS FOR JAYCO - ARFC

I have the frosted pop off covers on my NP 381 DLQS. However (don't want to hijack this thread), My island lights that hang down over the kitchen sink are way to low (Lumens). What dictates the lumens with LED? Can I get brighter ones? If so how are they measured? Heat? incandescence fixtures are rated by the socket for the light. Right?

They are thin plastic sheets in different colors that photographers use over studio lights to cast different light colors on modeling subjects. Just cut ‘em to fit inside the covers and change the light intensity.

Has anyone come up with a direct replacement fixture reading lamp. Apparently nobody at Jayco ever actually stays in their units and experience things like those blinding lights. Maybe they would come up with something more practical. It may cost them a couple extra bucks but I think they would be well accepted.

Too bright LEDs
LuckyDuck, we we're trying to find a way to get away from the "surgical brigjtness" LEDs when we ran across the Hengs LED trim light. We put it under the trim on the center vent on our 30ft instead of on top of it and it gives a soft indirect glow. Install was super easy. This is the only light we use 90% of the time now.

LED Dimmer
I found out via Youtube that the 2018 330RSTS has a dimmer on the main cabin lights.....
My 2017 doesn't, so I wanted to see about doing a mod to add it.
Hardest part thus far was finding the switch itself - and I finally found it.
https://www.amazon.com/Facon-Dimmer-...s=facon+dimmer
My next task is to get it in hand, then a trip up to the campground to see if I have access to both the positive and negative feeding the main cabin lights near the control center..... I'm hoping so. If not, I'll have to see about Plan B.

This is what I did on my 2017 338RETS. Remove the old on/off switch there are 2 black wires connected to it, disconnect both wires and then look in the hole for the white wires with a blue quick splice connecting 2 white wires, unsnap the connector to expose the splice then use a volt meter one lead on the splice and the other to the black to find which one has 12 volts now connect the black wire marked +in to to the 12 volt wire and the out + to the other black that goes to the lights. You will have to splice the white in - wire into the white wires with the blue quick splice (i just cut 1 wire and spliced the 2 ends and the in - with a crimp on connector) the out - is not needed (tape the end up to cover the bare wire)Thanks to White Ox for the switch link
