Only turn mine off when leaving site. I leave it on at night so the toilet works...

I shut ours off at the spigot if we're going to be gone for the day. At home I shut it off with the valve located in the wall where it enters the house if we're leaving for overnight. I really need to shut off the pump instead, as we've had two pressure tanks fail, one rupture and one pin size leak, in the crawl space over 25 years.
