Can I turn my mechanical fresh water faucet to an electrical system?

Hi, 1992 Jayco 1006 pop up. It came with a fresh water tank and a pump you lift up and down to draw water from the freshwater tank. Can I convert this to an electric system whereby I turn the faucet on and water comes out and simply close it to shut it off. Is there such a system I can use in my pop up? Thanks for your input.

I had a 1006 years ago that had a city connection and a water pump built into the handle. If that is the same as yours than you might be able to add a 12 volt pump in the line that would work.



You will need a pump, backflow valve, possible a strainer/filter, switch, wire and fuse holder and fuse. Maybe a $100?



Mine had a very small tank, maybe less than 10 gallons. With that you could go though it is a heartbeat. Especially if have kids. Handy for washing off babies though.

Put a 12v inline pump at the tank outlet , purchase a Shureflow tap , it has a switch in the handle , this replaces your manual tap , you simply connect one switch wire between the 12v olt active and the other to the active on the pump , negative to the chassis.

I plumbed in a 12v pump set it up to draw water from 2 ports using multiple valves and push water to the sink and a quick connection for an outdoor shower. I plumbed the fresh washer to the cold side of the faucet and the city water hook up to the hot water side of the faucet.

Hi, do you mean connect one line to my 12v battery and the other line to my faucet? My bettery is outside my camper. How does that work?

If you have a battery that operates the ceiling lights as well as the emergency brake system then the power gets inside somewhere. Jayco can provide a wiring diagram if you call, some posts just today on how.
The power goes to the pump. The pump has a pressure switch, whenever the water is turned on the pressure switch turns on the pump. If the pump runs and the water is not turned on then you have a bad switch, backflow valve, empty tank or a leak.
If you don't have a big tank then the pump is really adequate as you can pump it dry really quickly with a 12 volt pump system.

Many models that have electrical for lights etc. already have power to your manual pump. To manually pump you move handle up and down. With power you simply push handle down towards the counter and water will flow.

Sorry for the hijack, but I just broke mine like the one you had, and can’t seem to find one anywhere. I’m probably searching the wrong name.
