water tank

I have a 2005 Jayco 1006 popup which is new to me. When I filled my onboard water tank for the first time, after a few minutes water poured out of a drain hole? on the opposite side (main door side) of the tank. Is this normal? Is the drain to keep from overfilling? Is a hose missing?

I do not recall exactly how it worked on that era PU. There is a low point drain valve. On ours there was a white valve on the outside of the PU. As I recall on that era, there was a small vent line that went to the gravity fill port

Have you pulled the inside benches apart to see if there is a shutoff valve at the tank or where the tube exits the PU. My drain valves were always outside. But you never know what a PO may have done.

Thanks for the reply. There is no shutoff valve and the drain port I'm referring to. There is a shutoff valve on the same side as the filler tube. The drain on the opposite side may have had a hose attached for some reason. I'm clueless on this. I can say that the drain port I'm referring to has stopped draining, making me think it's probably an overflow feature.

Most campers have an overflow outlet, so if you quit putting water in once it starts overflowing it should stop, then you will know that's what it is. If it continues to drain then I would say something is missing

Agree. Our '08 had the overflow on the opposite side of the tank from the fill port and low point drain, so acted exactly as you described. Once water starts coming out the overflow, stop filling and you are ready to go.

Another thing to look out for, if you have a filter installed behind the sink, make sure you remove it and put the bypass in before winterizing. If you don't have a filter, but there is a bypass section on the hose, know that you can add one of the standard blue cartridge filters. This was a feature in '08, might have been in place in '05. Very easy to see and access when the sink is in the flipped position.
