scary sight

Driving to through Kentucky today saw an F150 pulling a LARGE 5er, looked to be brand new, had to be at least 35 foot, the rear tires were almost rubbing the fender wells and the front looked as if they were barely on the ground.

I can't believe a dealer would let someone leave their lot like that, I got around and away from that train wreck ASAP

The Dealer will be at some fault, but it's sad when someone doesn't do the research on tow vehicles and what they can tow...In reality, it's on the owner for being ignorant of what they were doing...kinda sad...and whomever sold him the 5er , knowing buyer had a 1/2 ton truck, is a stinking jerk...

Scary, sometimes I question if it is better to be in front of them or well behind.

Couple years ago, coming home from camping, I passes a tiny little mini suv, maybe a KIA or a small Toyota, fairly new sitting on the side of the road, pulling a very large multI level cabin cruiser boat, that would be right at home on lake superior. I would have not pulled it with my truck, and not sure I would have pulled it with anything less than a 1 ton.

There he was sitting on the side of the road with hose hood up.

More than once I've seen a minivan towing a 30-footer on the side of the road with the hood up.

A dealer not far from home once had "Yes, your car can tow it" on their advertising sign. It didn't last long before they took it down. I wonder how many people they sucked in with that.

We purchased our 5er from a dealer who had been in business for a looong time but I had no experience with them. So to hear how honest he could or couldn't be, one of the first questions I asked the owner of the dealership while looking at our current unit was "Can I pull this 5er with my Chevy s-10?" He was clueless to my knowledge, as I was his, but with a stern look into my eyes he answered with a firm "NO". Honesty goes a long way.

We were looking at a new 5th wheel some years ago. I mentioned my concerns about pulling it with my truck. He said it would pull it. I still had some concerns about it. He said to me well we can hook it up and you can take it for a pull.

Definitely see some scary stuff now and then. We see our share locally. Seen a motorhome pull a truck pulling another camper a few years back. I always try to take pictures of the stuff we see. The 2 pictures here aren't towing stuff, but, goes along with "the stuff you see in RV parks". Motorhome, well, don't think I'd be too comfortable with that. They survived and nothing happened, but what if. Would hate to see it come off of those lego blocks and / or a brake failure. On the awning, I got up and saw this, thought about warning the guy on what not to do, but instead went back to my breakfast. Sure enough, he comes out, scratches his head, and pulls the arm release. Awning came down and slammed him against the RV in a split second. I did at that point run over there to see if he was ok, and help clean up the aftermath. Both of these pictures were the same day at Stone Mountain, GA.

If you see crazy stuff, try to take a picture. Sometimes it helps others, sometimes warns you what not to do, and sometimes you just get a good laugh out of it.

I've got one that made me scratch my head. Not sure you can see how un-level it is but it was WAY off. And ever see anyone support a tongue jack like that?
