We all want to get the most for our SOLAR dollar. I can only assume (hate that word) that ZAMP SOLAR made some good contributions to the RV companies to get them to install their connectors (opposed to the industry standard MC4 connectors) on their RV products. I will not be including batteries in this comparison.
ZAMP's 200 watt SOLAR panel kit retails for $874 (+ about $100 shipping) = $974
whereas, RENOGY (most common choice by our members) 200 watt SOLAR kit retails for $409, delivered.
Based on the above prices the approximate
cost per watt:
ZAMP= $4.80 (200watts)
Renogy= $2.00 (200watts)
You could actually purchase 2 Renogy 200 watt kits for a total of 400 watts for less than the ZAMP 200 watt package. Granted, you would need to watch how much amperage that you would be pushing through the pre-wired ZAMP RV wiring packages. Or just re-run your own wires to meet your SOLAR output needs.
So, there is still the issue of the ZAMP connectors used on the prewired RV wiring. Well for less than $25 you can adapt the RENOGY standard MC4 to connect to the prewired connectors. Here is my post on how to accomplish
making your own ZAMP to MC4 conversion cable/connectors.
You could use the money saved if you only want a 200 watt system for increasing your battery Ah's.
