1st Time RV Owner
The Plan begins. First time RV owner. My wife and I have purchased a 2014 Greyhawk 31DS. Had our first trip this weekend. Learned a lot. Paper and pen were mandatory to write all of the items that we didn't have that we will need. Lots of little things. We look forward to many blessed trips and many safe miles. This forum will be a great guide for our adventure.
Thanks to all that have come before me. John

Welcome on board! I don't think we ever stop learning about RVing, Always something to learn, to look into, to visit, that's what makes it so appealing for so many of us! And not to mention sights to see and explore!

Welcome to the RV club! My wife and I have been at it a year now and it is still a challenge setting up the camper to leave the house! We almost always forget something, but I guess that is what Dollar General or Wal Mart is for !! Happy Camping !!

Welcome!
I keep a dedicated "trailer notebook". For every trip, I jot down the pertinent information (dates, location, site number, miles, drive time, general road condition etc) as well as meal plans, packing/grocery lists and such. I also jot down a "to do" list of chores, maintenance and repairs that will need my attention while I have the trailer home from storage. I also jot down notes about where we stayed. Whether the site was any good, other potential sites that might be better or acceptable if our first choice is not available, etc.
I keep this with me for the entire trip, and I will jot down items we forgot or things that need to be done to the truck or trailer that I notice while we're out. Right now, it's a small pocket notebook, so I can keep it in my EDC bag, but I think I'm going to upgrade to a full-size spiral so I can keep things like maps and brochures in there, filed with each trip.
All this helps us "remember" what a particular trip was like and allows to go back and reference it for the next time we visit. We'll know if a particular camp-ground meal worked well, or if the restaurant we went to was any good, or if the route we took needs to change. It really helps keep things straight.

Welcome Aboard!
And just when you are thoroughly convinced you know what you are doing, something unexpected happens.
Just wait for your first sewer hose fail.
We all laugh about it....later.

Is that one of those things? It's a "when", not an "if"?
Because if so, I'm due (knocking on wood). So far, I've had no mishaps. I had one gasket start to leak, but I saw it dripping a little bit and immediately bought a replacement gasket set and I'm back to good.
Gotta keep an eye on those things. When it looks like you're the only one who hasn't experienced a common event, you wonder when it's your turn! LOL!

It sounds like you're almost as paranoid about sewage spills as I am. They are the worst possible event. Anything else is just an inconvenience.
I chose that subject in my post because of the "You might be an RV'er..." joke:
- "...You have a sewer hose story... Nuf said"

LOL!!
Certainly paranoid enough to triple check EVERYTHING. I hope I can avoid any sewer hose stories!
Good advice for OP: Check the health of your waste disposal equipment frequently, and stay focused on the task at hand when dealing with waste to avoid becoming part of "that club"!
