First time seeing this

While in Tucson driving down road I came upon a Dodge pickup with a camper shell hooked up to a dolly with 2 wheels, and on this dolly was the hitch pin for a 3 axle 5th wheel. This 5th wheel had to be about 18,000 pounds. I have never seen this before. I guess that this person has to go to pull thru cause it would be almost impossable to back that thing in. I would also imagine that he might be overweight on his trailer hitch.

I believe Fire_Instructor is using one of these. It escapes me what the name is, but I know they are manufactured close to my house in Sanger, TX. I'll have to search and see if I can find out what you are talking about.

Found it: Automated Safety Hitch.

That's close but the one I seen is Different. Does not have the same bed. More like 2 tires, a place to hook up, and a coupler to put in the trailer hitch.

Looks like still only one pivot point. Definitely solves a lot of concerns some my have. What about length though?

Now that could be a problem. But I am still wondering about the trailer hitch on the truck, Trailer was very heavy with 3 axles so am thinking about 18,000 gross. don't ever remember seeing a trailer hitch that could handle pulling that weight.

Sounds like a guy I went to MX with a few years ago.. Wanted secure storage in the back of his truck and a 5th wheel
