Jayco and “Healthi” in Australia
G'day from across the pond!
We made the 27 day Pacific crossing and are enjoying our two week land trip “down under”.
Although not camping, it is neat to 'meet' an Australian Jayco in person! LOL
Some pics below include a “camp trailer” and “caravan”. Nambarc got to see them too
Notice the entry doors are on the left side instead of the right like in North America.
Some facts…North America vs Australian Jayco’s:
-curb side on right = curb side is left side
-travel trailer = caravan
-tent trailer/pop-up =camp trailers
-hybrid = expanda
-travel trailer with expandable roof = pop tops
-toy hauler is called the same thing
-motor home is called the same thing (range from 20’-28’)
I have yet to see a ½, ¾, or 1 ton truck here but I’m told they do exist.'s are pulled behind (very) small SUV's, jeeps, or cars. Most Jayco

Nice pics, Healthi. Do they have any larger RVs down there, like long TTs or 5ers ?

If you have not checked out the Jayco Australia web site you really should. Their trailers are vastly different than ours. I really like some of the things they are doing.

Pretty much the ones we see here are pretty lightweight due to the type of tv used. I'm not sure what the tow rating is for smaller SUV's or cars, but perhaps those at rvnet might be concerned
When walking through the Jayco lot, we didn't see any 5'ers and the "caravan's" they had were about 24' or less (typical apparently). We did see one 5'er at a campsite we passed that was hooked to one of those flat-bed deisel looking trucks, but it was probably no more than a one ton. Rare here in the state of Victoria, AU.
I did learn that although originated in US 1967 by Lloyd Jay Bontrager, in 1975, Jayco Australia Ltd was founded by Gerry Ryan.

Seann,
Actually, the dealer wanted to keep Nambarc (I guess he is somewhat of a celebrity there!). However, I promised Crabby I'd bring him back home to the US safe and sound. (Not to mention the bid wasn't high enough to leave him there *grrr*)

Gee I thought you would at least get a free weeks camping if you leave him there...

We saw these folks today. Here is a fellow Jayco owner who tows what the Australians refer to as a "pop up"

I really want to know if Healthi took her Earwigs on vacation with her... or did she leave them at home to fend for themselves?
