I stumbled upon a wonderful upgrade that can be added to most grills. This started with my purchase of a propane grill for my trailer. Not wanting to spend to much and wanting to use the propane fitting on the end of my DSRL I stopped at HomeDepot and purchased a stainless propane grill for 99.99.
It works ok but flames and burns the meats if there is any grease that drips. After pretty much ruining a couple of thick steaks I was really frustrated. No matter where I moved them on the grill there were flames and smoke. Thankfully I found the solution for my problem in a product called GrillGrates.
They are anodized aluminum plates that are shaped so it become a infrared cooker..Mine are cut to size to replace the stainless grill and just set in like they belong there. Having them cut to size was a little extra and almost cost me as much as the stove, but I'm so happy that I'll be getting another set for my Camp Chef bbq that sets on my Explorer stove. I have no affiliation with this business but I can sure recommend it's products. The site is:
