Coat Rack project

Well, as my dear wife keeps reminding me just how few hooks there were on the coat rack for 3 people in fall camping. So I took out the original one.

Then did some tweaking of my own design with approval from the review committee. Here it is. I concealed the fasteners under where the coat hooks will go.Click image for larger version

And finally, we have coat hooks galore!!

Now we have more hanging space and a small shelf for wallets, gloves, hats, etc. We were looking to go darker to make it an accent like the dark "leather" on the seat below it and to go with the dark accents around the slide.

The technical stuff: 2 poplar boards and satin nickel coat hook from Lowes, Minwax Polyshades in Expresso (gloss, 2 coats), and a couple of coats of Minwax Polycrylic in gloss.

Very nice. Additional hooks make it much more useful.

Nice addition. Hooks are always better than the floor!

Looks great! Did you put screws directly back into holes from old coat rack?

No, there were staples running horizontally underneath where the old rack was so I assumed wood was there. So I put a strip of tape across the wall centered on the holes. Put a strip of tape across the new rack's mounting holes, lines up the tape ends to the tape on the wall and drilled the center hole. Installed screw, then leveled to the cabinet above and mounted the other 2 holes. (Oh, I did remove the tape after mounting the center hole). I seemed to have hit wood all the way across.
