Move Step light from awning light circuit to Security light circuit.

I have a 2016 WhiteHawk 23MRB. The step light is on the same switch as the awning strip lights. I would like to change it so it is on the side security light switch. I don't see the need to have the step light come on with the awning lights since they are so bright.
Has anyone ever done this? Can I do it behind the switch control center?

Thanks!
Tom

You may need to contact Jayco and ask for the wiring diagram. What you talk about can be done but you will have to install another switch to separate the two from a single switch and run power to the new switch. Having the diagram will show you how its wired now

I plan to separate these two lights from the same switch, I will attempt to figure out the brand of switch so I can purchase a double switch to place into the trim plate in the cabinet.

I have no problem putting the step light on with the rear security light. I was just wondering if the wires both "home run" back to that control center. I will just have to pull the screws and see what is behind there.
Seems silly to have that step light on with the beacon of an awning led strip! You can't even see the step light with leds strip on!

I had the same problem, but don't have a security circuit to put it on. I put in a two way switch. You flip the switch up, and it turns on the awning lights, you flip the switch down, and it turns on the step light.

I like that idea! Were both wires run back to the control panel where you could put the switch in there?

Yes, both wires were connected to one side of the switch. Here is what it looks like now. I don't think I took a picture of what I found. It was a jumper that then had both wires attached at the end.
