Coleman - mach airconditioner ?
We just returned from our first full week in our 23B. On a few days the temps were quite hot and humid so we put the air con on. Now I was expecting it to run like the one at the house, turn its self off and on to maintain a temp. This thing ran the entire time and was so noisy. It did keep the trailer nice and cool, but my question is, is it suppose to run all the time??????? like a fan. (We ran it on cool low and did not have the temp control knob set to the cooldest setting, just a little past the half way mark.)(all the way down made the trailer to cold)

Does your unit have a wall thermostat or are the controls located on the A/C unit? My guess is that they are located directly on the unit and that the fan was running the entire time and the compressor was cycling on and and off when necessary.

On that particular A/C unit the fan runs continuously and the thermostat cycles the refrigerant compressor only.

You should be able to hear the compressor kick off and on. Try turning the temperature knob down until you hear the compressor kick off, or turn it up to hear it kick on.

That is how yours and mine work. There is no automatic on/off operation for the whole unit based on a pre set desired temperature. Fan runs all the time while the compressor cycles on and off depending on the temperature setting dialled in. Getting ducted air helps if one does not have a thermostat that controls the AC .

Thanks for all the replies. I was worried that it was broken. Just wished that it was quieter

The ducted units are much quieter. I have a ceiling mount in another vehicle they can be quite noisy.
Even with the thermostat, I leave my fan on 24/7 when it is hot out. It gets too stuffy for me otherwise.

Me too. I like the RV cool and not stuffy so the only time it is off is when the humidity is low to normal and the outside temps are around 75 or so. Going out next weekend when I expect the temps to be in the mid 90s. The PUGs will be on and the AC will be working full time.

For what it's worth I hated the sound at first also. However, after 7 trips this summer I find that it blocks out the campground noises from the early risers and we can all sleep a little later.

I recently added the same unit to my 1007 and my wife loved the constant sound. It allowed our toddler to go to be near twilight and not wake up.
You have to manually shut off the fan sadly, but doing so also shuts off the ac.

There are some mods out there to put it on a wall thermostat and you can probably wire it up to shut off the fan when the compressor shuts off. It would take some electrical knowledge to do.
I have another question. Does anyone know where I can get a user manual for those units?

Try the Coleman-Mac website. I think I remember there being a link to manuals.

I can't find a Coleman Mach web site, just tons of sites that sell them.
Do you have a link?
Thanks

Here is the link to all the manuals. I can't remember the product number of our air conditioner but I think its number 12 on the list. My manual is in the trailer at the storage yard, so I can't check the model number.

Just curious does anyone know off hand the actual measurements of the unit that sits on top of the roof? I am thinking about buying a cover for when its at the storage yard since it sits under some trees. We are picking it up Thursday morning to pack it for our labour day camping weekend. So I will measure then but thought somone on here might know the measurements off hand. My manual of course is sitting in the trailer at the storage yard. And I am unsure if the measurements are even in the manual.
