My bride and I both think that our Thermostat is reporting temperatures much different then actual ambient values. I intend to bring a thermometer on board to see how far off it actually is. But I would guess on hot days we are looking at a 10 degree variance.
The thermostat on the 29ME is mounted in the hallway. The back side of that wall is the bathroom. The head has no A/C vent and both a skylight and a fan in the roof. When the door is closed the heat in that room rises significantly. So that leads me to wonder... How does a thermostat measure temperature? Is it possible that even though it is mounted in the hallway there is enough radiant heat permeating the wall from the bathroom that we are actually getting temps from that space?
If I am actually getting some kind of heat bleed from the bathroom, could I fix it by adding a layer of foil tape behind the thermostat to insulate it?

My last RV had one of the thermostats mounted to an exterior wall so I extended the wiring and moved it to an interior wall, just around the corner of the wall.
Unfortunately I don't think moving it is an option. The only other interior walls in this model are storage and the surfaces are all either doors or drawers.

If you remove the thermostat there is a hole in the wall behind it. Get nonexpanding insulating foam in a can from Home Depot and fill the wall up with it.

I like that idea. Thanks for the suggestion

I have a similar issue,my thermostart is mounted to a closet that also has the heater on the bottom shelf and hot water heater above that, when the hot water heater is running it sends heat thru the wood and the thermostat reads higher than it really is,i plan on sealing up the hole behind the thermos in hopes that it helps
