Dining room light broke from swinging

I have a 5th wheel 28.5 rsts and the dining room light came loose from ceiling and broke outer glass. Does the bulb come out? Seems to be one piece?

There are many different types of lights and differences in year models...a picture and year of your unit may help with a better answer.

The fixture should be secured with a metal ring above the light bulb. Might have to remove the bulb to tighten it. It needs to be hand tight.....I check all 7 before and after each trip.

Thank you for your help. I am trying to get the bulb out but seems to be part of the fixture. Outer glass is broken and try ING to take it off.

Have you tried pushing it in first then turning it counter clockwise? Most I have seen have been the bayonet base type.

Yes , but it seems to be all in one. May have to contact dealer, but thank you.

The same fixture was in our 317, and the same thing happened to ours. I couldn't figure out how to get the bulb out, I think it's part of the fixture and was made to never be replaced. I ended up breaking the globe all the way so I could get to the retaining nut then cutting the wires. Purchased 2 of these and they fit/worked perfectly.

If you are in warranty, check with the dealer. We had a swinger on ours when new and it was always coming loose or cracking my head. I just purchased a new ceiling fixture and moved on.

Thank you, yes those look great. Think I will do the same. Just won't match the wall light which is near the table.

You have to pull it down and disassemble it. I attached a picture.

Thank you very much, now I see what it's all about. So the bulb is attached to the threaded rod. What a bad idea of a lamp. But it's an rv and I have seen many other things I just scratch my head and thought , what were they thinking?

I had mine break loose and was swinging by the wires (Thats how i got the picture) Like other people on here I replaced mine with shorter ones that have replaceable bulbs.

mine too

We had the same exact one in our 28.5 RSTS and it shattered leaving glass everywhere. As has been noted by others you have to remove then rewire the entire fixture.

Broken light

Same here, broke while traveling and I constantly banged my head on it.
Shown is the new one, had to rewire, and I made a new mounting base. Amazon.
And much softer on the head!!

Here is the stupid question of the day... Did you do anything unusual to get these new lights to work? I have connected Red to white wires, black to black... neither working, and I am no electrician.

Hopefully the picture posts correctly

You need to go black to white and red to black. I hooked mine up the same way you did and no joy, took a shot and reversed the wires and walla they worked. I don't know if it is the camper or the lights that are backwards but it worked.
